Animal-Assisted Therapy
AAT is a goal-directed intervention in which an animal that meets specific criteria is an integral part of the treatment process. It is designed to promote improvement in social, emotional, and/or cognitive functioning.
CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy)
Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) is a type of psychotherapeutic treatment that helps patients understand the thoughts and feelings that influence behaviors. CBT is commonly used to treat a wide range of disorders including phobias, addiction, depression and anxiety. Cognitive behavior therapy is generally short-term and focused on helping clients deal with a very specific problem. During the course of treatment, people learn how to identify and change destructive or disturbing thought patterns that have a negative influence on behavior.
EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy)
Emotionally Focused Therapy, or EFT, is a proven effective treatment of couples counseling that is based on solid, rigorous research and clinical practice. The focus of Emotionally Focused Therapy is to help couples identify negative patterns of stress. Couples learn how to work through issues that have left them feeling angry, resentful, hurt and withdrawn to feeling emotionally safe, connected, trusting and happy. EFT does this by helping couples to improve their communication and strengthen their bond.
EMDR
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a psychotherapy that enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences. Repeated studies show that by using EMDR people can experience the benefits of psychotherapy that once took years to make a difference. It is widely assumed that severe emotional pain requires a long time to heal. EMDR therapy shows that the mind can in fact heal from psychological trauma much as the body recovers from physical trauma.
Faith Based Counseling
Faith Based Counseling is an approach to therapy in which the insights of theology and spirituality are integrated with the principles of modern behavioral science to help individuals, couples, and families achieve wholeness and emotional health.
Play Therapy
Play Therapy is a specialized therapy that supports children in addressing and resolving their problems and concerns. Play therapy can help children to identify and express feelings, learn to problem solve, regulate their emotions, modify their behavior, learn new ways to interact and work through troubling or traumatic life events.
Sensory-based Interventions
Sensory-based Interventions are non-language activities to help individuals communicate how they see themselves, others, and the world around them as a result of their trauma experiences. Some examples of sensory-based or non-language interventions include expressive art, music, sand tray, and the use of puppets. Trauma experiences are difficult to communicate with words and more easily described through imagery. Sensory-based Interventions allow a way to share the experience without having to say too much.
